Objectives.
Description of Work
This WP refers to the development of a unified database by aggregating data for Greek organisations collected through the various empirical research instruments, and the conduction of statistical analysis. . The empirical analysis will focus on the diverse factors that (synergistically) affect participation intensity in RJVs such as the motivation and objectives for participating (e.g. keeping up with major technological developments, R&D cost sharing), and also critical enablers such as past participation experience , strong networking capabilities, and scientific and technological reputation. In this way, the analysis can lead to specific conclusions about the most significant critical enabling factors and obstacles for entering into RJVs.
Another basic aim of the statistical analysis is to examine the relationship between the various characteristics of the Greek organisations’ participation (participation intensity, role and position in the projects/networks, characteristics of the knowledge flows, organisation’s objectives and strategy regarding this participation, problems and challenges each entity encounters) and the benefits gained. We will focus on two types of benefits-impacts: The first one refers to the tangible scientific, innovation and economic output such as the development of patents, publications, prototypes, new products, processes and services, as well as the direct increase in business revenues, productivity and employment, and the creation of new firms / spin-offs (output additionality). The second one refers to the development and enhancement of critical organisational resources and capabilities that can lead to tangible benefits at a later stage, such as the acquisition of critical human capital and technological knowledge, the enhancement of the organisation’s reputation and market access, the building of permanent relationships and networking, and the improvement of research, technological, learning and project management capabilities (outcome-behavioral additionality).
